Oktoberfest

Blouse c/o: Bebe / Shorts: J.Brand / Shoes: Steve Madden / Watch: Michael Kors / Bracelet: BaubleBar / Hat: Nordstrom Rack / Sunnies: Celine

I'm in New York City! I’m trading warm Silicon Valley temperatures for a scarf and cold nose, but for less than 24 hours. After having breakfast today (Wednesday) with the Google+Team and some of our partners, I'll be making my journey back home; hopefully the short trip will ensure I don't empty my bank account walking around Manhattan.

I will miss The Banker and The Badger until then and will try to find solace in the fact that I get to wear my new quilted jacket and old leather riding boots! Cold-repellent outfits are so much easier than seasonally ambiguous outfits like this one I threw together a few weeks ago for Oktoberfest in Mountain View.

Game Day

Shirt: NFL Shop / Jacket: Purchased in Spain long ago / Skirt: Zara / Beanie: H&M / Shoes: ShoeDazzle / Clutch: c/o Whiskey and Lace / Bracelet: c/o Jami / Watch: Michael Kors / Rings: Catbird / Sunnies: Celine / Lips: Kevin Aucoin Principessa

For the entirety of my marriage, I hoped my husband's love of football was just a phase.  I hoped that one year he would decide it's too boring and instead prefer to rub my shoulders for 3-6 hours every Sunday (but still make me queso and bring me a Blue Moon). Alas, we don't always get what we want; so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!
If I'm going to be subjected to watching the Arizona Cardinals every Sunday, it's important to dress the part. To keep my fan garb feminine and chic, I paired it with a leather skirt and my new Balenciaga-esque booties acquired through ShoeDazzle!

10 Sporty Chic Musts

Essentials for Game Day
Whether I am at the gym or just running around with my 2-year-old; I love the sporty-chic look. Raglan tees, vintage tees and tees that tout which fashion designer's team you are on all help the wearer achieve that effortlessly cool look without looking like you just hit the treadmill.

I like to pair my cotton tees with a leather skirt and some gold baubles to add some grown-up femininity. For days where comfort is the goal; nothing beats patterned sweats and a cap to cover bed head.

What are some of your favorite sporty-chic pieces this season?

Behind the Scenes with Aimee Song

She’s constantly on Who What Wear. She travels more than The Jolie-Pitts. Pinterest seems to be just another canvas for her edgy-chic outfits. The woman in question is Super-blogger/influencer/interior-designer, Aimee Song.

The LA native was recently in SF where Julia and I had the opportunity to ask her 10 of our most burning questions. In order to pick her uber-stylish brain, we sat down privately with Aimee while she hosted a luxurious party for the launch of Tiffany & Co.’s Atlas Collection (which is exquisite, btw).

Here's my Q&A with the most welcoming of hostesses:

Most comfortable designer shoe?
Alaia.
Favorite guilty pleasure?
Eating, and getting a massage from my boyfriend every night.
If you could collaborate with any designer, who would it be?
Guissepe Zannoti.
Worst part about blogging?
The lack of sleep. And also when people think I'm just not really working my ass off when I really am working my ass off.
First class or coach?
If the brand has a lot of money, they fly me in first class. If not, coach.

*Special thanks to Aimee for a lovely evening at Tiffany & Co and for calling me "hot." I'll never forget that. Now scout out Once Upon a Blog to see what Aimee dished to Julia!

Mad for Plaid

Both shirts: Forever21 / Jeans: Bleulab / Shoes: ShoeDazzle / Bag: Tory Burch / Necklace c/o Le Tote

I love my skirts and heels, but have been increasingly drawn to casual and functional outfits. There are probably a dozen reasons why, but the main one is sore legs.  Since I've reintroduced my legs to long runs (I ran the Nike Women's Half Marathon yesterday!), my lower-half deserves a break from stilettos.

I wore this casual outfit around SF for a Wagner family date. The flannel was intended to add a layer of warmth, but it was shockingly warm that day so it ended up tied around my waist. Like REM and Doc Martens; a shirt tied around the waist is something I can appreciate regardless of the decade.

Cobalt and Leather

Last weekend was unordinary in that I spent Friday night at the gorgeous Mark Hopkins Hotel in SF with my girl, Carissa. It was an amazing evening which included two favorites; microdermabrasion and martinis.
Saturday, I attended the iFabbo fashion and beauty blogger social media conference and wore two more favorites: cobalt and leather. Special thanks to her for snapping these photos before I headed off to absorb some social media knowledge-bombs.

Outfit Details:
Everly Blouse c/o Le Tote / BCBG Blazer (love this one) / Zara skirt and shoes (similar skirt here) Gorjana Ring / Gap Clutch (similar here) / Stella & Dot Bracelet / Michael Kors Watch / OPI 'Dating a Royal' nails / Nars Luxumbourg Lips

Hello, Pom Pom

3.1 Phillip Lim dress (similar here) / H&M beanie (love this one) / ShoeDazzle boots (similar here) /BaubleBar cuff (also love this one) / Gorjana ring / OPI Dating a Royal nails

Hey there, friends! I scored this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress on Bib and Tuck after falling hard for its unique print, intricate cut and versatility. The print is peacock meets pixel. The cut is wrap dress meets split skirt. It's classic, but modern and totally swoon-worthy, right?
I love my beanies (as evidenced by this and this) and paired my dress with this cute pom-topped number and ankle boots for a casual fall outfit.

What to Wear in 3 Sticky Situations

I'll be the first to admit dressing for important occasions can induce unnecessary panic. This is especially true when one doesn't have a lifetime of experience or Rachel Zoe on the payroll. Maybe the last baby shower you attended was for your mom when she was expecting you. Regardless, once you've landed yourself a baby shower invitation or two, you don't want to rely on a weekend wardrobe composed of cut-off shorts, tank tops and concert tees.

Office holiday party? Your dress can't be too tight. Nor too short.  But you also don't want to look like you're part of the Duggar family. So. Many. Rules.

Don't stress. I've asked Erika and Molly, owners of Whiskey and Lace, to make dressing for three sticky situations (1. a job interview, 2. a baby shower and 3. an office holiday party) as uncomplicated and un-sticky as possible. Here's what they came up with:

Job Interview:

 Baby Shower:

Office Holiday Party:

Eight Sixty Black and Teal Jacquard Dress (similar here) with tights and black booties

What do you guys think?

Halloween Decor + A Halloween Giveaway!

Hi Friends! Before heading to an Oktober Fest celebration on Saturday, I got the rest of our Halloween decorations out of storage and made our house a bit more spooky. The Banker and I love Halloween (and Day of the Dead) which explains why there are no less than five macabre decorations in our home at all times. Needless to say, it's easy for us to get in the Halloween spirit!
To share my Halloween Spirit, I've teamed up with Nailed Kit (Ahem, I interviewed their Founder and CEO last week) to give away a Halloween-themed nail art kit to one of you gals!
To Enter:
1. Follow BethAnimalPrint and NailedKit on Instagram
2. Upload a grim, ghastly or glamorous photo of your mani
to Instagram before 10/15 with #NailedKitOct (don't forget the hashtag because that is how I'll find your shot.)
3. I will announce the lucky winner on 10/15.
Good luck!

Happy Saturday! This week seemed so long. Did it seem that way to you? I can hardly believe Saturday is here! How did I get so lucky?
Since we are on the topic of terrific days - I had one yesterday when I wrote a guest post for my friend Gina's (The Fitnessista) blog! It was so much fun sharing tips on how to go from the gym to coffee. (And by coffee, I mean 'acceptable in public.')
I hope you enjoy these shots. They are totally different from what you are used to, but no less 'me.' Go to her blog for the full story!

Totes Smart

Dress and necklace c/o Le Tote / Heels JustFab / Bag Tory Burch / Sunnies Celine

When I pulled this dress out of my first Le Tote box, one of my beloved colleagues exclaimed, "that is so on brand with Bethanimalprint."  She was absolutely right. I love the cut, color and bold color-blocking on this professional dress.  After slipping it on, I felt like Jackie O.  But after a wear or two, this dress is making its way to the next gal, because that's the way they operate at Le Tote.

You might wonder whether a site like Le Tote takes away the joy of shopping.  (Spoiler: It doesn't.)  Personally, I think working moms could use a personal shopper and an ever-changing wardrobe for only $49 per month.  As the Banker would say, "I'm bullish."

Meet Rachel Kim, CEO of Nailed Kit

I am ecstatic to share this painfully sweet interview with Rachel Kim, CEO of Nailed Kit. She graduated from Harvard Business School, she works her ass off and makes a living off making parties and fingertips more exciting. The only thing that could possibly be more lovable than her are her Border Terriers. Without further adieu, I give you Mrs. Kim.

Who are you, where do you live, what do you do?
My name is Rachel Kim. I live in San Francisco with my husband and two of the cutest dogs ever, Flyer and Rudy. I am the Founder and CEO of a start up called Nailed Kit. We make DIY nail art kits for special occasions such as birthday parties, bachelorette parties and baby showers.

What made you decide to start Nailed Kit?
Prior to founding Nailed Kit I managed marketing at a sports website called Bleacher Report in downtown San Francisco.

I was inspired to launch Nailed Kit while planning my friend Leah's bachelorette party. Her request seemed simple enough at the time:  She was looking to do something classy, and she didn't want to wear anything outlandish or call a lot of attention to herself. I set out to find an alternative and in the process realized most bachelorette party products are pretty terrible and not well designed. Don't get me wrong, penis straws are funny once, but after your third or fourth bachelorette that gets a bit boring.

Out of this frustration I got to thinking: what if we all had matching nails? Of course it wouldn't be a true bachelorette without personalizing them for her, so I wondered if I could create custom monograms for us to wear on our nails. It turned out no such product or service really existed. Thus Nailed Kit was born.

How do you decide who will be able to help you design the next kit?
One of the main ideas behind Nailed Kit is to work with prominent graphic designers and illustrators to create exclusive designs for Nailed Kit. The beauty of Nailed Kit is we can explore many unique designs and not just do a repeating pattern which is what you mostly see at the store when you see nail wraps. Because it's flexible I am able to work with many designers and will look to add to my existing collections as well as add entirely new ones. Basically the sky is the limit!
Do you have a go-to designer nail polish you rock when you aren't killing it in nail art?
Since I'm always on the go, I absolutely love Sally Hansen's insta-dri line of nail polish, I love how quickly I can do a mani. My latest obsession is a color called 'Gone Grey' it's a lovely dark gray that reflects Fall.

But otherwise, I love Butter London and this Aussie nail polish brand called Hello Darling, they are doing some really fun stuff with nails.
If we stopped you on the street, what would you be wearing?
I'm pretty casual most of the time. I love my skinny Levi's, leggings and chambray. Also recently discovered that the Nordstrom in San Francisco carries TopShop, so I've been wearing a lot of their tees and little dresses with colorful leggings.

What is one thing not many people know about you?
I'm a triplet. I have a brother and a sister and we were born on April Fools day. Also, my dogs have become sort of famous on Instagram. They have over 2,000 followers and growing.
